SituationWare User Guide

Overview

SituationWare gives field teams one shared, live operating picture. Team positions, formations, markers and routes are plotted on a single real-time map, so everyone — wherever they are — sees the same situation as it unfolds. Use the navigation menu to open the Live Map, build Formations, manage your Team, or review Analytics.

Signing up

There are two ways to get started:

• Create a team. If you are setting up a new team, create one and you become its Admin. You receive a 6-character join code to share with teammates.
• Join a team. If a teammate has invited you, enter a handle, your email, a password, and the teammate's 6-character join code. You join as a Viewer; an Admin can change your role afterward.

Roles

SituationWare has three roles:

• Admin — manages the team and its members, changes roles, and regenerates the join code.
• Editor — creates and edits formations, markers and paths.
• Viewer — read-only access to the shared operating picture.

The live map

The Live Map shows real-time team positions, markers and formations together. Editors can add or move markers directly on the map; Viewers watch the situation as it updates. Use the toolbar to fly to the formation centre, toggle layers and search locations.

Formations

A formation groups related markers and can include drawn routes and paths. Create a formation, add markers to it, draw the routes you need, then view the whole formation on the Live Map.

Markers

Markers flag points of interest on the map. Place a marker at a location and add attachments to it so the team has the context they need. Editors can place and move markers.

Teams

The Teams page lists members and their roles and shows the team's 6-character join code. Admins can promote or demote members, remove them, and regenerate the join code — useful if a code has been shared too widely.

Analytics

Analytics shows usage insights — which features are used most and how activity trends over time — so the team can focus its effort where it matters.

Search

Find formations, markers and teams quickly. Press / or Ctrl+K from anywhere to open search.

Account & password reset

Forgot your password? Use the Forgot password link on the sign-in page. We email you a reset link that stays valid for one hour. To sign out, open the account menu in the top bar and choose Sign out.
